Who Is An Electrical Engineer and Who Isn’t?

July 25, 2024

It's a big world out there, be wary against those claiming to be engineers who actually are not!

Don't have the wool pulled over your eyes.
Not just anyone can call themselves engineers.

Professional engineers hold a four-year professional engineering degree that’s accredited or recognised by Engineers Australia.

The first and most basic check you should make is to search the National Engineering Register.
Any engineer you appoint should be listed here https://lnkd.in/gKzyxEjK

There are particular requirements in each state but here is a summary:

Victoria - must be listed on Consumer Affairs Victoria as a professional engineer.
Search the register here https://lnkd.in/g2KUgCwR

New South Wales - depending on the type of engineering services, may need to be listed as a Level 3 Accredited Service Provider.
You can search that list here https://lnkd.in/gUCiCYsf

Queensland - All practicing engineers must be registered to carry out professional engineering services.
You can search the register here https://lnkd.in/gpAY_ksd

The aim of the game is to inform yourself and make good buying decisions.
